Strengthening the institutional capacity of ACT to leverage, support and monitor tobacco control measures in Brazil

The aim of this project is to maintain and improve key tobacco regulations in Brazil, and will specifically address effective implementation of FCTC Article 8. Building upon the Union-funded projects, this project will promote 100% smoke-free environments at all levels of government. Implementation and enforcement of current smoke-free legislations across the country will also be a focus. The project will develop and deliver effective capacity building activities in support of smoke-free environments, enhance mobilization efforts and increase the effectiveness of campaigns and communication materials. It will also produce and disseminate legal and economic papers and documents in support of smoke-free laws.

E-learning program to promote tobacco control activities for health inspectors in service throughout the Brazilian territory.

The aim of this project is to enable health inspectors to carry out monitoring and enforcement actions that contribute to the compliance of tobacco control interventions such as the ban on TAPS, SFE and tobacco product regulations. The project will develop and provide a comprehensive training program for health inspectors responsible for the enforcement of tobacco control interventions in Brazil. This includes design and development of on on-line training program, production, management and delivery of the e-learning program to health inspectors, training at least 1,000 health inspectors through the learning platform, production of a job aid for inspectors of standards and protocols based on documents and other materials used by ANVISA, and compilation and availability of an extensive digital library with selected documents.
